Kid’s Ministry is off to a GREAT start this year!
Sunday School is a super-fun time each week and we’re all learning so much. We love playing games together and eating a yummy snack. We’ve also been working on simple “bibliology.” Things like learning what the difference is between the Old and the New Testaments, learning how to look up Bible verses, etc. This is so important in this day and age when these things are most often NOT taught in the home. Each week we learn a Bible story and get special treats for bringing our Bibles, memorizing Scripture, or bringing a friend! For more information, check in weekly with the Bible Studies tab on our homepage. That will tell you more information about what we’re learning and the memory verse!
Kid’s Church has been a blast so far this fall! How great is the sound of that stampede as they leave the sanctuary every Sunday morning? They are a lively group for sure. We have been doing the Orange curriculum for a while and are now about to transition to Worship for Life: Kids which is a curriculum that comes out of Lifeway. Check out their page to learn more!
Kid’s Club has been an amazing time each week. Every Wednesday, about 20 kids run down Cemetery Lane for homework help, fun snacks, choir, Bible story and games! We have a GREAT team of volunteers that are giving of their time each week to help these kids and serve their families. These kids will perform a couple of songs on December 14th during the service. You don’t want to miss it!
Volunteers ALWAYS needed:
Especially teenagers that are willing to help out in the above areas. Sometimes all we need is an extra set of eyes and ears as we teach a lesson or do a craft. We definitely need adults, too, that are willing to bring snacks on Wednesday nights and sub when one of our volunteers can’t be there. Please consider how you can join in and be a part of this wild and crazy ministry!
For more information please contact Celyn Ganske (819-6153) or Whitney Sapp (742-1146).
There are exciting things happening in the Women’s Ministry at SVBC! If you haven’t gotten involved yet, plug in! There are two events every month. One is a fellowship/IN-reach lead by Lynn Ledford! There is always yummy food, a good speaker, and fun to be had by all! Celyn Ganske is leading the other group. This one is an OUT-reach outside the walls of the church to reach women in our community who might not want to come inside the church just yet.
In December both of these ministries will come together to put on “A Night in Bethlehem.” This will be a lovely Christmas dinner to invite your churched AND unchurched friends to! Mark your calendars now: December 5th at 6 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The room will be transformed to take you back in time to what Bethlehem might have looked like!
Help is needed to make this event a true “team” effort and to make it a lovely night for all those that attend: table hostesses (will decorate in a rustic/Bethlehem theme), baking bread and desserts to share, traditional Middle Eastern foods (recipes can be provided) set-up crew, and clean-up. We are also in need of the following items: twinkle lights, white sheets, any rustic decor (burlap, wood, etc.), candles, and baskets (please label anything you bring and put inside the far left closet in the Fellowship Hall).
If you are interested in helping or contributing, please contact Celyn Ganske (819-6153).
There are two areas that you can “give back,” this year to help families in need…
Thanksgiving Food Baskets
Please prayerfully consider families and individuals you know who could use a food basket. Pass any names on to members of the Benevolence Committee (Shelly Brownlee, Christa Craig, Bill and Vicki Scales, or Steve Whitehurst). The list of food for the baskets is on the bulletin board across from the Fellowship Hall. Even when the list gets full, more lists can be added if God brings more families to mind.
Women’s Ministry 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner
Please help us love our community by providing a meal for those in our community who may need it! Here are the areas in which we need volunteers: baking homemade pies and desserts, cooking and helping in the kitchen, serving food, delivering meal to the home-bound, and clean-up crew. Sign up for any or all at the back of the sanctuary. See Lynn Ledford or Ciska Mosher for more information!
